2023 Honorees and Scholarship Recipients
Kennedy Ross
Howard University
Kennedy is a Senior at Lindblom, where she is am a member of the National Honor Society, track team, Black Student Union, Student Council, Students with A Purpose and Lindblom Dance Ensemble. She have a 4.6 GPA and will major in Forensic Psychology at Howard University.
Kennedy Sims
Loyola University
Kennedy is a Senior at Morgan Park Academy in Chicago, IL. She was involved in many school activities over the years. She played on the volleyball team. Kennedy was a Student Ambassador for four years and was a member of the service council, organizing service days for her entire school.
Brandon Taylor
Northern Illinois University
Brandon Taylor is a 2023 graduate from Englewood Stem High School. He is preparing to graduate with a gpa of 4.4 and dual enrollment credits. He will be furthering his education at Northern Illinois University. Some of his favorite hobbies include producing music, playing video games, and playing basketball.
Tatierra Ries

Tatierra is high school senior graduating in 2023 year. She loves to play clarinet and solve math problems. She has been playing clarinet for 6 years. Her future plan is to use my math skills to become an accountant. She also plans to be an entrepreneur and own an accounting firm.

Gabriella is a senior in high school and is involved in courses such as the Civil Rights Movement, Women’s Literature, Advanced Painting, and Statistics. She played sports such as volleyball, softball, and basketball. She attends affinity groups such as Black Student Union, Women of Color, and Students of Color.

DuWayne Portis, Jr.
Morehouse College
DuWayne Portis Jr. is a high school senior currently attending Lindblom Math and Science Academy. He is a musician, athlete, screenwriter, and advocate for mental health facilities and reduction of food deserts in the Chicagoland area. He has a 4.5 GPA, and is attending Morehouse College in the Fall.

Amiyah is currently a senior at Gary Comer College Prep. She listed among the Honor Students with a 4.2 GPA, rank 17/190. Amiyah is passionate about community service as she is a member of the high schools Student Council and News/Yearbook Production Team. She received the Vittum Humanitarian Award

Serenity is an African American writer from Chicago, determined to write films that influence, inform, and entertain. I find importance in telling genuine Black stories that provide representation and a safe place for Black people to find comfort.
Camille Marks

Camille is a senior at Chicago Hope Academy. She enjoys playing volleyball and lyrical dance. She is the eldest of two children and a role model for her sister. If you ask a friend to describe her, they would say she is a compassionate, fun loving, competitive, intelligent young woman.
Logan Payne
University of Missouri/University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign
Logan is a senior from Chicago Illinois. she is passionate about community outreach/education among the youth and the environment. She plans to pursue environmental science and psychology and have a career where she will study the interactions between humans and the environment.
