JuneteenthIllinois.com is a collaboration of state, county and local governments, community- and faith-based organizations, civic groups, the arts, and corporate sponsors and your clearinghouse for all things Juneteenth in Illinois. It is a showcase for the myriad commemorations of Juneteenth throughout the state under a single hub. Public, private, and community-based entities across the state are represented on the site, with more being added daily.

Committee members represent all aspects of the Black experience in Illinois. The passage of a Cook County ordinance amendment making Juneteenth a paid holiday and similar pending state and local legislation, compelled the committee members to come together and create a permanent repository for Juneteenth activities, actions, and advocacy. They see this Black Holiday observance as an opportunity to rejoice in, and pay homage to, the resiliency of Black people and affirm the power of our collective voices.
